Are you aware of the new field behind the Duncan exhibition grounds? They will be a MAAC field from what I hear from those who fly there and have pulled the deal together.

I fly sometimes with the old boys out on MT Sicker rd. Nice place to fly.

I am a member of the Nanaimo Model Aires Club me and my buddy basically have the field to ourselves most of the time its a great flying spot a bit out of the way but worth the extra efort.

Anyone is welcome to come check it out if they like as long as you have your MAAC guests are allways welcome. Allot of old timers in this club but some very nice people me and my friend are the youngest members in our early 30's and the newest.

The field is near Nanaimo lakes there will be a funfly again this summer hopping to get more people there this year, were a few from Vic last year. Let me know if anyone wants to come check it out i can give directions to get there.

I just joined the Thunderbirds club. A great group of guys that are similar to those of us that fly at the VMP, but they have an official Field. They don't require a bunch of hoops to fly wiht them, just prove you are safe and pay your club membership dues if you are a MAAC already.
They do have some blackout dates due to conflicts with the exhibition grounds, but take what you can get.

I suggest we join forces with them...they need a website and some oraganization, which we seem to have a bit of already and we need another flying location. I am now a member. I will suggest a fly-in once I get to know the group a little better.

The place they fly is ok but less than ideal. I have heard of rumblings about people not liking them there.

OK must be more than a few well heeled types flying planes in Victoria. And we have perhaps twenty 100 acre golf courses in town. Why don't we just get together and buy a farm and put a full service flying club on site? Lease out the land for sharecroppers and fly all we want on a groomed 4 acre landing field w/a paved strip.

Of course a section of land here cost many times as much as it does anywhere else in Canada. But the golfers do it .. must be a business model in there somewhere that works?

I would like to retire in a planned community with houses surrounding a big RC park. Open my back gate and I'm there. Everyone buys in knowing it's an RC park so no whiners. No baseball, soccer, dogs or birds on the RC field.
I would be happy the rest of my life.
Too bad there is no such thing.
